FORENSIC MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS for children suspected of child abuse which include: · Services in a safe, child-friendly setting · A multidisciplinary team approach · Pre- and post-conferences with parent/caregiver · A complete head-to-toe physical exam by a trained forensic family nurse practitioner · A child advocate for support before, during, and after exam · A non-invasive colposcope used for magnification and documentation of findings · Collection of physical and photographic evidence for law enforcement · Use of state-of-the-art Internet ImageQuest for consulting opinions · Prevention of unnecessary repeat examinations · Referrals for counseling · Expert witness testimony in court Examinations are performed on request by law enforcement and also may be requested by a physician, DFCS, or any other agency when child abuse is suspected. | ||
